Leo the Lion
One of Hercules tasks was to skin the Nemean lion who was also known as Leo. Leo had a skin as hard as stone. Hercules wrestled with the lion with his bare hands. He skinned the lion with its own claws. Hercules made Leo's fur coat a cloak of protection and wore the head as a helmet.
Another story of Leo is when Pyramus and Thisbe were in love. Their love was forbidden, but the two talked anyway. One day, they decided to meet at a tree. Thisbe, the girl, got there first but was scared off by Leo who was bloody from recently killing. As Thisbe ran, her veil fell off. Leo grabbed the veil with his paws. When Pyramus came to the tree and saw Thisbe’s bloody veil, he killed himself since he was so sad. Thisbe ran back to Pyramus and killed herself when she saw him dead. Zeus placed the veil near Leo the lion in the stars.
